My country of choice was England, "the workshop of the world". Honestly, I learned more than I thought I would in this project. I l learned about my country economically, historically, and culturally. I also learned about the different advancements made in this country, and researched all the way back to the Industrial revolution. It was really amazing to see how England really did shape various things about our world today. This country was actually the first one to host a World's fair at the Crystal Palace, which was what my group decided to recreate. Through this exhibition England wasn't only able to prove that they were the international leader in almost all areas but how it England got to promote industrialization, since it was the first one to do so. Also, England was able to influence us in our language and to spread it around the world. The English empire was the largest empire ever seen! The discoveries of new countries and areas gave an opportunity to England to expand its empire and to spread new ideas and have access to new resources. It still continues to influence us from the creation of machines to science and literature. Even in the English language.
My group decided to recreate the Crystal Palace. We chose this structure because it was a landmark and a very important monument for England, even though it still doesn't exist today. The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations, sometimes referred to as the Crystal Palace Exhibition is one of the most important fairs worldwide. That references to the temporary structure that was created got the sole purposed of uniting al nations and encouraging economic growth through international trade. The Crystal Palace was an enormous success, considered an architectural marvel, envied by various countries including France. This edifice was visited by more than six million people. It was beautiful and very detailed making it more attractive to our eyes besides its rich history behind it. I think that the final product was great even though it didn't go as planned, we worked hard to bring something presentable and admirable to the people. I am glad that I was able to pick an invention meaningful to England itself as a country and to me as a student learning about it. I think that the Crystal palace was such an accomplishment for England, an engineering triumph that reflected the importance of the exhibition itself.
The prototype process was helpful yet quick and easy. I think that the making of a prototype really contributes to the establishment of your idea. I think that creating a "rough draft" of your final product helps you think about what improvements you need to make and to settle your vision of your expected outcome. It was good to get all of our team members to have an input on the making of the prototype to have everyone expose their ideas. We all got to discuss how we wanted to make the Crystal Palace look and that really helped to have an idea and work to satisfy everyone's ideal vision. It definitely contributed to final layout and format of our product.

I think that our opposing country, France, would have to be the country I would be interested in learning more about. France was really a competence to our own country and it really impacted the world with its industrial growth. I think that since France was famous for the beautiful architecture and destinations, the food, and the language it definitely is alluring to anyone. I wish to know more about the country from its unique architectural structures, beautiful art and its culture. I think since Paris is the most visited city in the world, France has lots to offer as a country to be in the top. It is very interesting to see how all countries really have their own color and importance yet how it can either bring us together or separate us. I enjoy learning about different cultures and I actually used to have a French class because I just loved the language. I really hope that I can keep learning and discover new things about this precious country.
In my perspective I think my group and I did an amazing job. Even though some things didn't go as planned, like the structure of our product and its material. We were supposed to make it out of acrylic to make it look more like a crystal palace but the laser cutter was unfortunately not working by the time we desperately needed it. It was disappointing because we didn't have a plan B, however we managed to create something out of wood and make it into exhibition. I am really proud of my group for being able to even have something done for exhibition, it looked way better than I thought it would. I surprised myself with my hard work! I was super stressed but being able to receive help from my team mates was a help that is very appreciated, that's team work, being able to overcome problems together. We really worked really hard and I spent so much time after school just to finish this project.
Exhibition was great! In my perspective I think it went really well for my group. We had many people wanting to come and live in our country. We got lots of compliments of our knowledge about our country and they were very interested in it. I am glad people got to notice our hard work and our investment into this project. It's refreshing to know that the hard work paid off. We were so stressed about our final project because we finished it a couple minutes before exhibition started, that we weren't able tp bring anything to give away to the people or any souvenirs. It was disappointing to witness how everyone else got to bring food and crafts to give away when we were so worried to even finish our product. They were receiving so much coins and tickets for just having food. Yet, we didn't lose hope and tried to engage people with our knowledge and ended having more coins and tickets than some of the groups that were giving out food and crafts. It really amazed me and showed that my groups hard work really did pay off.
