Look @ Me Now
The Look @ me now project was very fun for me. It was an opportunity to show little pieces of me to the people. I was very happy with my writing results and my poster overall. Even though it wasn't like something super detailed and extraordinary, it was't bad. This was a bit challenging for me because I struggle in figuring out things about myself and I over think very much. It did take me a bit to come up with the theme but after I got it everything was way easier to write. After I found the theme that applied to me, which took me time to figure out, I had an idea on how to apply the theme to the rest of my writing. I am very proud of my work and I tried to as much detailed as I could. I think the easiest part of this project will have to be the decorations. When I finished my work, writing wise, I wanted to display it in a poster. I asked my mom for supplies and we went to buy some at the store and one thing that everyone asked me or liked about my poster is how and why I put a frame (it was gold duck tape). This is such a great and amusing question, personally, because when I went to school in Mexico all the posters we did had to be framed. We had to put a frame of some sort and from then I haven't stopped doing it. It's funny because this is also a flashback and well I enjoy when I have stories behind the things I do. I also included a picture for every paragraph and the photo represents what the paragraph says, almost like symbolism. Lastly, I decided to add lots of pop-up stickers and it was a very fun poster.
I love to shares stories and it was fun to share my flashback and setting with my classmates. This wasn't uncomfortable because I love to shares stories and things about me. I was scared of my pronunciation of course but I practiced to say words clearer so my classmates could understand what I was talking about. I got some reactions towards my presentations and they were very interesting, they weren't mean but they were really amazed about what I shared.
In the process of my writing I definitely wanted some critique so I could see what I could change and also grammar and spelling checks. Our teacher divided us into groups so we could critique each others work and help each other. This was very helpful because since English is my second language and I have only been in school in the U.S for five years now and I'm still learning. I really like when I receive critique and honestly it really helps me very much. I don't take it in a bad way because is such a great opportunity to learn more through classmates and teachers. I received critique from my classmates and my teachers and made my writing way better. One of my critique peers was Paulina and Mrs. Howard. They provided useful and kind feedback and that really made my writing better.
While I was receiving feedback I got to critique my classmates as well. I got to critique Paulina's and Jenny's. I tried to be really specific on what could be improved and I also wrote down positives things about the writing. I tried to be as kind and helpful in my feedback but I still tried to point out things that could be added or changed. At the end both of them had really nice posters and beautiful presentations.
When were given work time I did my absolute best to take that time to finish this project. I was working at all times and I really enjoyed doing this. I really like to take advantage of the time that we have in class and I really did. I actually had pretty detailed and long paragraphs. The only thing I had to do at home was to add pictures. I worked always and I was very proud of my work.
I think that I deserve an A because I really stayed on task and I turned in my work on time. I tried to add more pictures to everything and I really wanted to display beautiful work and I was very proud of my results as I put lots of effort into it.
I really liked this project overall and it made think about myself more which was very interesting and I really liked that. I am very happy with what I wrote in my paragraphs and I just really liked how it looked. If I had to change one thing about the project it would have to be the questions. I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do, so if the questions to start the paragraphs were more specific and clearer it would make it more easier. Yet, overall it was awesome.
